Mobile Phone use
As students progress into Sixth Form, they are afforded greater independence and responsibility. In recognition of this, mobile phones and headphones may be used at designated times and in designated Sixth Form areas, while maintaining the College’s expectation of a mobile phone-free environment for students in Years 7–11 and minimising potential distraction to learning.
Sixth Form students are expected to use mobile phones and headphones responsibly and in accordance with College expectations. They may only be used at the times and in the areas outlined below.
Students may use mobile phones and headphones:
- in Q Zone, the Study Centre, the Lutterworth Sixth canteen and the Sixth Form study area of the Library, during break and lunchtimes;
- during study periods for work-related learning only in the designated areas above.
Students may not use mobile phones or personal headphones:
- in lessons at any point;
- in corridors or any other areas of the College site outside the designated Sixth Form spaces listed above;
- to take photographs, videos or audio recordings without permission.
If these expectations are not followed:
- mobile phones or headphones used contrary to these expectations will be confiscated by a member of staff and retained at Lutterworth Sixth Reception until the end of the school day.
Where students repeatedly fail to meet these expectations, parents/carers will be contacted and further action may be taken.
