Half Term 1: August - October

Year 7 – Computing (Topic 1: Digital Students)

• From the Year 7 Computer Science Team, Files, Class Materials, Topic 1 (click here) – select the lesson you are on and work through the PowerPoint’s and complete the student activities.

• Use the Internet to research Alan Turing, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, George Boole and Charles Babbage.  Include who they were, why they are famous and the impact they had on the world of computer science.

Year 10 – Computer Science

• Programming Practice: Complete five challenges on GoCodeit and write the pseudocode for each.
• 1.6: Ethical, legal, cultural and environmental impact: Watch the videos  and produce a revision tool to cover the content.

Year 11 – Computer Science

• PPE Revision: Pick a topic from the video’s and produce a revision tool to support you in your preparation for the PPE’s.
• 2.5 Programming Languages and IDE’s: Watch the videos  and produce a revision tool to cover the content.

Year 11 – BTEC Digital IT

• Spreadsheets Practice: Complete lessons on Oak National Academy.
• BTEC IT Revision: Watch videos from unit C and make notes: Different Forms of Notation, Flowcharts, Data and Information Flow Diagrams, System Diagrams

Year 11 – BTEC Digital IT

Spreadsheets Practice: Complete lessons on Oak National Academy.

BTEC IT Revision: Using the PPE result, pick a topic from the list and make a set of revision notes to prepare you for the final exam.

Half Term 4: February - March

Year 7 – Introduction to HTML

• Click here to complete an hour of programming in HTML.
• Follow the tutorial and use the built-in editor to practise writing your own code.

Year 8 – Micro:bit Activities

• Click here to access Micro:bit tutorials.
• Select one of the following projects to complete in block coding mode: Flashing Heart, Name Tag, Smiley Buttons, Dice, Micro Chat, Pet Hamster, Countdown, Morse Chat, Clap Lights.
• Follow the instructions and modify the tutorial to create your own version.

Year 9 – Computer Science

• Programming Practice: Continue working through the CSUK 101 Programming Challenges. These should be saved in your OneDrive or accessed via Teams.
• Sorting & Searching Algorithms: Work through the questions using BBC Bitesize or Seneca.
• Ethics & Computer Science: Watch three videos from Craig 'n' Dave and create a revision resource: Investigating Technologies, Privacy Issues, Cultural Issues, Environmental Issues, Impact of Technology on Society, Legislation.

Year 10 – Computer Science

• Programming Practice: Complete five challenges on goCodeit and write the pseudocode for each.
• Robust Programming Techniques: Watch three videos from Craig 'n' Dave and create a revision resource: Defensive Designs 1, Defensive Designs 2, Maintainability, Testing, Errors, Test Data, Making Robust Algorithms.

Year 10 – BTEC Digital IT

• Spreadsheets Practice: Complete lessons on Oak National Academy.
• BTEC IT Revision: Select two videos from the BTEC IT Playlist and create a revision resource summarising them.

Year 11 – Computer Science

Year 8 – Scratch Shooter Game

• Click here to work through the tutorial on how to make a Scratch shooter game, try creating the basics for a shooter game.  You can then try to adapt it with other features.

Year 9 – Computer Science

• Programming Practice: Work through the programming challenged on ReviseCS.  You should ensure that you have completed all outstanding programming challenges.
• Cyber security – work through the lessons on Oak National Academy making notes the lesson content. You can then check your knowledge completing the quizzes.
• Ethics & Computer Science: Watch three videos from Craig 'n' Dave and create a revision resource: Investigating Technologies, Privacy Issues, Cultural Issues, Environmental Issues, Impact of Technology on Society, Legislation.
