College News 9th November 2018

Headteachers message

Today the school marked remembrance with our own service. Students played their part by behaving impeccably and marking this significant centenary of the end of the first world war with dignity and respect. I'd really like to thank all of our invited guests from the local community who shared the day with the school especially the relatives, friends and family of Peter Page (a former Head Boy of Lutterworth Grammar who was killed in action in the second World War) who organised a lovely display from Peter's life including his old Lutterworth Grammar report from 1936!

I'd also like to thank our Head Boy and Head Girl for leading the student leadership team in helping to deliver such a poignant service. A special mention also to Jess Lapworth who played so brilliantly before and after the two minutes silence.

Our Remembrance plaque now proudly displayed in the main school hall.

Finally, I'd like to mention and congratulate one of our Year 10 students, Isobella Panteli, who has been shortlisted for The Armistice 100 Prize for Schools Poetry Competition. From over 544 poems, Isobella's poem was read and selected by the Poet Laureate Dame Carol Anne Duffy to be included in a published collection of poems. Isobella will be attending a ceremony at the University of Lincoln later this month where the Poet Laureate will announce the winners and launch the book.
